One of IKC’s current main program activities is in rural development and empowerment. We work with local communities to strengthen their capacities so they can organize themselves and contribute to their own development. Moreover, we raise the awareness of local authorities with regards to the needs of those communities and increase their capacities for policy development towards them. Increasing the participation of rural communities in policy making is also an important part of these activities. We do this:

 

· By organizing different trainings and workshops for the villages in which local governments are included

· By implementing projects in the villages

· By engaging civic society sector in village projects

IKC also works with local grass-root organizations of the civic society sector. Our activities focus on capacity building of local organizations and networking. This is done by:

 

 

· Organizing trainings and workshops for local organizations on different topics

· Supporting local organizations

· Implementing projects with local organizations
